“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.”

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Although I’ve seen this quote credited to Theodore Roosevelt several times, I just found out that it actually comes from someone else. In his autobiography Roosevelt quotes Squire Bill Widener as the original person who said this line. I haven’t been able to find the original Widener quote, though, so do we just say it was Roosevelt’s line after all?

Anyway, it doesn’t much matter to me who actually said it first. The message still hits:

Don’t wait. Start now. Begin.

What’s something you’ve been putting off? Start. Today. Just take the first step. Tomorrow, take one more step. And keep doing this every day. See where it takes you.

You have enough to begin. The rest will follow if you keep at it.
