Cymbidium Flower Song 'Spring Dance'

Yebba – My Mind

How I Found It

YouTube recommendations… like so many other finds. What can I say. The algorithm works.

Why I Love It

Yebba’s voice is everything. Beautiful, emotive, powerful, pure. Raw, controlled.

The song itself is perfect, too. Simple, understated lyrics with a gorgeous guitar melody that could make you cry. (I see you guitar guy. You help make this video.)

The way she performs this song is incredible. What a performance should be. It’s so visceral. I got allll the feels, the physical feels. Chills. A churning in the pit of my stomach. Shoulders and neck tingling. Yes. Music, art, literature, film, anything really raw and true gets me like that physically. I got this over and over again with this song. It’s such a high.

At the end of the song I felt gutted. And texted people that they HAD to listen to this video. And then I had to watch it at least 10 more times that same night.

I used to listen to a lot of Jewel when I was younger and this song gave me the same feels I used to get crouched up next to the stereo, listening to songs about things I didn’t know and hadn’t experienced but was feeling through the music.

I came into this video cold, but figured with 3 million views it must be good. And this completely blew me away. After this video I got hooked on the Sofar Sounds series. (It’s so good… Check it out.)

I actually watched it so many times that I eventually needed to take a break. So I started watching reaction videos…lol. It’s cool to see how other people experience this song. In fact, this was the first time I really watched reaction videos and was surprised that they even interested me. But it was such a deep experience that I wanted to share it with other people, and after I texted the top people I could think of (it was late – no one even responded to me and I needed to share it right then), I found it oddly satisfying watching videos where other people were going through the same emotional journey that I had just gone on. What a weird modern-day way to find virtual camaraderie with complete strangers, haha.

I ended up finding tons of awesome reactions to this song (even found another one as I was writing this). They’re linked down below, or you can just watch them in this playlist I made on my YouTube channel (which is really just a collection of curated videos… sorry, no original content to be found here). Enjoy!!!

Aaand a cover, just for good measure…
